Introduction & Welcome!

Hi everyone!! Thank you so much for joining me on this new and wonderful journey. I want to welcome you wherever you are; whether you are just a beginner or an experienced yogi, I hope to meet you where you are at. I wanted to first take this as an opportunity to introduce myself and to give you a little background about me. Then to share a little about why I created this page and my vision for it.

To begin, my name is Sydney Mittelsteadt, and I am 22 years old! I am originally from Wausau, WI, but am currently a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin Madison studying accounting! I love being a student and learning (hence why I wanted to deepen my yoga knowledge and pursue my teacher training certificate). Unrelated to yoga, I love being active in any way possible. I like to run, bike, weight lift, downhill ski, honestly anything to get me outside and moving. I love traveling (my favorite destinations are either Spain or Hawaii so far), and I also enjoy going up north with my family during the summers.

A little about my yoga journey, I went to my first class freshman year of college with a friend and absolutely fell in love. I have been a dancer since the age of 3, so the flexibility and flow came naturally to me; however, I remember not knowing any of the names of the poses and being so lost. I’m sure I looked clueless lol, nonetheless, I was hooked. I absolutely loved the community yoga brought. That you could go to class with a friend, place your mats side by side, and encourage each other while you sweat together. I loved the physical benefits (flexibility, using your body weight to get stronger, increasing bodily awareness, working through injuries, the ability to modify the sequence easier/harder to fit what you needed that day, etc.) as well as the mental benefits (breathing through a tough balancing pose, and there is truly no better feeling than relaxing into final Savasana at the end).

Recently, I completed my 200-hour training through Inner Fire Yoga in Madison, WI. I am so incredibly grateful for my wonderful teachers, and yoga friends that I made along the way. Through my 200-hour training I learned that I have so much more to learn! I specialized in Power Flow, but love to be creative in my sequences and even incorporate a little light weight into my flows. I thought the second I graduated I would take off running and begin teaching right away, but I realized I wanted to slowly ease into it. I created this website to keep up with my practice and hold myself accountable while also sharing this gift with others. I’m hoping that through my website you can learn something new, try out and experiment with new poses, flow through a sequence with me, and meet and connect with others along their yoga journey too! I hope to post blogs about yoga topics (please send me anything you are curious/interested in learning about), fun poses to challenge you, mindfulness, and provide some picture/video tutorials!

I hope that you find whatever you came looking for, and more. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey and I am so excited to share the gift of yoga with you!

Namaste,

Sydney
